David Hall

I just wanted to make a note on my experience of David Hall’s work at Ambika Gallery.

It was WOW at the first sight.

Countless fat various make/ size TVs facing up concrete ceiling, cover gallery’s huge raw concrete floor randomly in the dark, like ants gather to make a black wave on sugar trace.

Some TVs showing the same football match / Some TVs showing cooking program/ Some TVs showing Pooh’s cartoon.

Moving to an installation room – I would call a FRUSTRATION ROOM – only “a set of a TV monitor & a camera on top of THAT TV monitor to capture the image in front of it”  x  apr 10 on the LONG wall.

BUT the problem is that the image taken on the camera’s not shown on the paired TV monitor, which means that I face A CAMERA trying to see my face shown on another TV monitor far away that I CANNOT see my front face /can see only back of my head or side.

This drives me crazy and also reminded me the frustration on my mum’s 3 sided mirrors.
